UK to ban Zimbabwe athletes

The British government is considering banning all Zimbabwean sports people from competing in the United Kingdom.

The BBC’s Inside Sport programme revealed that this is one option being discussed to prevent Zimbabwe’s cricket team touring England next year.

Pakistan cancels Zimbabwe tour

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday cancelled a three-day tour match between Zimbabwe and Pakistan due to domestic cricket matches.

PCB chief operating officer Shafqat Naghmi told a news conference in Pakistan that the Zimbabwe team would arrive in Karachi on January 12 on a 20-day tour and would play a five-match one-day international series. “The three-day match was to be played at Asghar Ali Shah Stadium. The tourists will now open their tour with a four-day match against Patron’s IX at NBP ground in Karachi from January 14,” he said.

Pakistan confident Zimbabwe tour will go ahead

Pakistan cricket officials are confident that their home series against Zimbabwe will go ahead as scheduled later this month but are willing to reshuffle the venues if required.
